Well, I won't bore you all as you all know my recent history. 2 weeks tomorrow though I will be returning to Hull to see my surgeon to discuss the operation to have an artificial bone put back in my head. Now I know this is nowhere near as bad as the previous ops I've had but I must say that I am far more worried about this one than any of the others.

With the tumour there was no time to think about it, it was like BANG, it HAD to be done or else the alternative didn't bear thinking about. This time though i've had a few months to think about it and I'm getting bloody worried. 3 reasons really. 1) They will have to open up my whole wound again and its just starting to heal nicely now. 2) My track record on wounds healing is hardly good so will the wound heal properly and 3) The bone is artificial, now the last thing artificial they put in, my body rejected it. Will my body reject this bone?? oh and there 4 reasons really. 4) I don't want to go through this bone replacement op and then discover my tumour is growing back at my next MRI scan and then have to go through the entire ordeal again.

At the moment though I am counting my blessings as in the last couple of weeks I have learned of two people I knew of (not really friends, but I knew of them) who have died from brain tumours recently. One was a referee in the sunday league and another was a former player for the team I am secretary of, though he played for us before my time at the club.

Anyway, I've had far worse shit to deal with this year so far so I suppose i'll get through this but I just can't help worrying.

it's just a stepping stone to getting better
When you're 100% well again you'll think it was silly being worried about it

Well I've just got back from a visit to my surgeon to discuss whether or not to have this bone replacement op. I had 10 questions written down I needed to ask him as I didn't want to come home then think, shit, I forgot to ask him that.

Anyway, hes answered all my questions and now its up to me to decide whether or not to go ahead.

Im about 70/30 in thinking I will have the op. One of the major reasons which is swaying me is that he says if I bang that side of my head with any force it could have serious repercussions. If I don't have the bone replaced its not going to affect my life expectancy or the chances of getting my licence back and it won't even prevent me flying its just if i do bang it with any force then it could be goodnight vienna. Being heavily involved in local football its only gonna take a stray ball to whack me in the head to cause serious injury.

This is probably one of the most important decisions of my life, if not THE MOST important, with the tumour there was no decision it was made for me but for this I need to be 100% certain so i'm gonna have some serious thinking to do over the next couple of days as I need to let him know by the end of the week if I intend going ahead.

If I do then I have to have a couple of scans of my head done and they will order the ceramic bone (costs about £3000) then it will be upto 6 months before I have the op done, to give them time to order the bone etc. This will probably tie in with my next MRI scan next May when I will know if this f**king tumour is growing back or not.

les please dont think im sticking me fat head in ur business and not one to worry u

but at a few football matches in the past year with our lot footballs ave hit people who were watching either lads messing about behind goal/ side lines.
the ball comes flying of the pitch either a rickoshade or straight at u.

big ryan our lines man had one at the healing sixes hit him straight on the head/face knocked him flat out bless him.

so i would say give it some thought fella, u do love ur football an u are a hands on man, ie u would pass the ball back for throwing etc only needs the oppersition who no fuk all about u to be messing about with a ball and it ..well not worth thinking about eh

so as a concerned mate give it some good thought pls we all love u loads on here as well as the family, but its not me who has to go through all this stuff its u, must be a massive decision , if u need any help in making a decision or a friendly ear let me know  we can go for a pint ( ur minted u dont spend fuk all now ) lol

hope i aint over stepped the mark mate xx

but to be light hearted les, if you want a safe place to stand whilst enjoying a sunday mornings kickabout, can i suggest standing next to the goalie of any of our opposition, very rarely does the ball enter that area
