Baileys travelled to Roval Drive in immingham to face De Kyme in a fierce division 7 clash.
The rain was falling heavily, but went ahead, even though the pitch next door was seen as being unfit to play, although it was in a much worse state.

Gaffer Dave Blastland wasnt there to give the usual rousing team talk in the changing room this morning so that duty was again handed over to keeper, Shaun Leightley who tried his best to get the troops riled up, although he was struggling to speak after a heavy all dayer the previous afternoon.
Baileys lined up with Shaun Leightley in goal, Ian Smith at right back, Stacey Stratton at left back, Matt Freudenberg and Craig Jackson were the centre halves, Ben Simpson on right wing, Andy Mason on the left and Lee Vince and Wesley O'Donovan in the engine room of central midfield with Barry Ramsey and Andy Blake given the all important task of sticking the ball in the net for those striking positions.

The whistle went for the start of the game and it wasnt long before De Kyme took the lead, after a long ball forward, the De Kyme striker got in front of the defence and fired a lovely half volley over Leightley's head and into the net.
After the restart Baileys were stuggling to find their rythm and struggling to put 2 passes together, Baileys won a corner on the right side and Mason jogged over to take it and he whipped the ball towards the back post for the onrushing Vince and Jackson but it was to no avail as the ball went out for a goal kick.
The game was soon level after a cross from the right side, the keeper fumbled and Mason was there to poke home with his unfamiliar right foot.
Around half way throught the 1st period, De kyme were awarded a free kick around 5 yeard out side the baileys box, it was taken and leightley decided he had to palm it away in the wet conditions, didnt get enough on it and the De Kyme player knocked it in after no Baileys player went to clear the ball. as the first half of scrappy play was during to a close, simpson fired one in from the edge of the box and with the aid of a slight deflection drew the scores level at 2-2.
The Whistle for half time went soon after and the boys came over for the team talk without the usual gaffer, everyone said what needed to said and soon it was time to line up on the field again.
The 2nd half started with a much better attitude for the Baileys lads but soon found themselves behind again, the ball was deflected and what looked to be a De Kyme corner ball but Leightley decided to try and keep it on, which he did, but lost control of the ball and after square pass the De Kyme lad stroked the ball into the goal to make it 3-2.
Again Baileys were behind found enough to fight back again and equalise for the 3rd time, a long ball forward for Ramsey looked to take aim but the ball stopped in the soggy part of the pitch and he played the ball inside and Blake cooly had a touch and placed in to the left of the keeper, which led to a much previously talked about knee slide!
De Kyme Then took the lead for a fourth time after another long ball and after Freudenberg fell and slipped it was to the De Kyme striker to finish well to the keepers right side.
Afterwards Vince was fouled and O'donovan stepped up to take this central free kick he struck it and it dipped infront opf the keeper and the lack of bounce took in inbetween his legs and now  the score was 4-4.
Anthony Siddle came on for Mason and simpson moved to the left hand side of midfield and Siddle lined up on the right wing. and Siddle made the final goal of the game after battling in the box the ball broke to the edge of the 6 yard box and Simpson toe-poked the ball and it slowly went into the back of the net to give Baileys their first lead of the game.
It was enough to keep the bandwagon rolling and another welcome 3 points after a lacklustre performance from Baileys.

Well Done to De Kyme for a very hard fought game!

What a lovely fella............isnt it you who introduced yourself to the league by calling AFC Holton Le Clay a bunch of tools?? How ironic.......

Good job the posts were there when we spanked you otherwise the result would have had the correct look to it as a pose to making you boys look like you were competitive....... all that and us with half a team eh....all the best for the rest of the season, hope you manage to stay in Div 7

Yeah we only hit the post three times, not flattering ourselves just stating fact. You will be talking about Wes who is a quality player but we were also missing Simmo (just as much quality about him as Wes) and Jacko (played much higher than Div 7) Oh and Nelly and Eddy both Div 1 players 2 seasons ago. But having a squad is all about being able to win games when players are missing and we did that  smile/hapface01.gif

So Im quite happy that the lads I put out did a good job in beating you guys and at the end of the day good performance or bad performance in your eyes we still took the three points and thats all Im bothered about.

Im more than happy to see where we sit at the end of the season. The table never lies (unfortunately for you guys!!)

Like I said I hope you manage to win enough games to stay in Div 7 cause I like Macca he is a good bloke and deserves to do well.

Enjoy the rest of your season mate. We will.

Your right..the table doesnt lie..12 games 26 points for you...9 games 13 points for us..so we got 3 games in hand over you aswell as buddies who also have 4 games in hand..i hardly think your going to storm the league..and your not storming it..in my opinion the game was evenly matched and we also had players missing...so like you im happy to wait till the end of the season and then the gloating and cockyness can begin..but if you want my opinion..played you twice and wasnt impressed either times by your performance..but good look for the rest of your games.

Never once said we were gonna storm it, or even win it although Im confident we will be right there come the end of the season.

You played us twice and werent impressed with us, thats entirely your opinion and I will respect that. All I will say is I am dissapointed having played you twice to only have taken 4 points, because we didnt think much to you either!! Funny that eh!!

I would rather have the points in the bag than the games in hand TBH, that said Buddies are the best side we have played this season and will without doubt be right up there too at the end of the season as will Grainthorpe (if they can turn out 11 every week!!)

No offence to you guys but the fact you have three games in hand doesnt fill me with fear, our season will be decided by our performances on a Sunday. If we dont win games we wont do anything in the league, right now we are winning games and thats enough for me.

Enjoy the rest of the season, shame we dont gert to meet again, it would have been fun!!
