Baileys Live 6 Fiddler 1 Baileys enjoyed a great start to the season after a convincing win over a decent fiddler outfit. Baileys started the first half strongly and took an early lead when new signing Ben Simpson got on the end of a great cross by Freudenburg to power home a header from 10 yards. It could have been 2 soon after when a carbon copy of the goal saw Simpson put his header just over the bar. Baileys were enjoying by far the greater share of possesion and it only looked a matter of time before the second goal came and it soon did, Jackson poking home from close range from an Atkins corner. the third goal came just beofre half time when Blake broke free of the defence and slotted past the keeper. There was still time for Ramsey to miss another 1 on 1 chance. Half time came and 3-0 was a fair reflection on the first halves play. Fiddler came out for the second half much more fired up and had Baileys on the back foot for the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half without creating too many clear cut chances. The Fiddler goal came when their forward made his way into the box only to be brought down by Freudenburg with stand in ref BLASTY having no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Fiddlers penalty taker strode up and sent Leightley the wrong way for 3-1. Fiddler continued to press and another goal at this point would have made for an interesting last 20, however it was Baileys who struck next when Blake was fouled 25 yards from goal and Atkins strode up to bend the free kick round the wall and into the net, leaving the keeper stood still for 4-1. This visibly took the wind out of the sails of Fiddler and Baileys scored a 5th when O Donovan smashed home a dipping volley from some 30 yards and then Ramsey followed up a Simpson piledriver for 6-1. Good start to the season for Baileys and they now go into next weeks cup tie vs Birds Eye full of confidence. Thanks to the Fiddler boys for a hard fought but sporting encounter. Im sure that once they have the benefit of some games together under their belts they will be a force to be reckoned with in Div 7. Thanks to me for a fantastic refereeing performance!! ![]() | |||
