Division 2                   Martin Anderson Insurance v Gunners Watch fc

Gunners Watch stuck with the 4-4-2 formation which has brought them some good success this season, but they nearly came unstuck against an experienced, well drilled Anderson’s side. Once again Mark Lodge donned the Gunners keeper’s gloves an proved to be as cool as ever with what was thrown at him.

The early sparing saw end to end soccer with no side really taking control, the wind spoiling what seamed to be a good game of football full of passion from two sides committed in attack. Gunners had 2 free kicks but they both flew wide of the goal with the help of the wind, the gunners forwards of drew Mcfadyen and Luke Marshall were causing a few problems but the last ditch defending kept Anderson in it. Anderson had several corners that were swirling around as they came over, but superb handling or punching was the order of the day by the Gunners keeper Lodge.
This was the wake up call for Andersons to start competing and this they did, pushing gunners back at every opportunity and only woeful finishing and some fine defending by Balldock , Goodwin, Burton and Forest  kept there slim lead intact. Andersons approach work was appealing to the eye with one curling effort just going wide.

The first half drew a blank with neither team giving way.
Although Andersons had plenty of the ball the battling qualities of the Gunners midfield lads of Danny Power, Shane Walton Darren Walton and Kristian Osborne where more than equal to the task.
Anderson should have taken the lead but |Chamberlin rounded the Gunners keeper only to loose his footing with the goal at his mercy. This woke the gunner’s lads up.

After weathering the first ten mins of the Anderson attack, with the wind behind the gunner’s backs. Gunners made a substitution, replacing the injured Darren Walton with Ricky Lewis, moving personnel around, letting Ricky Forest utilize his pace.

No sooner had gunners broke forward Mcfadyen did a great turn only to see his shot crash against the post, the defender kicking it out from a corner. From the resulting corner the defender headed it out to forest who stood on the edge of the box to move the ball from under his feet and place the ball in the top corner 0-1

One nil soon became 2-0 when Osborne had a little bit of luck, as he jinxed his way past 3 players he shot, but scuffed the ball in the ground only to see it fall to top scorer Luke Marshall, who with the deftest touch, placed the ball in the bottom corner with the keeper routed to the spot. the Gunners lads had raised there game and  the final minutes saw Andersons hitting the ball any ware as they ran out of ideas, the sub had helped change the game
A steely Gunners outfit had got the points, on a field that resembled a wind farm.
Gunners would like to thank Mr. Chris Good for his excellent reffing of the game
