That was the price  for Martin Jol to be the first Premiership manager to get the sack. It looks like it's now inevitable he will go within the next 48 hours.

16.5.m seems a lot but he was last seasons leading english marksman in a poor charlton side and i think once he settled in at spurs and given a proper run in the team he will come out as top english scorer again this season...he only young and if he remains for the length of his contract i think he will repay the price tag ten fold....

ten fold ....hhhmmmmm....the trouble is they now have 4 strikers who all expect to be starting...and he has already begun to bow under the pressure by playing keane on the right wing.....to be honest i see bent as apoor mans drogba....should have spent the money on another centre half and possibly a goalie....ps huddlestone is sheer class and has one of the best range of passes with both feet that i have seen in years

16.5 for Bent was a lot but you always have to pay over the odds to get a player. Especially a striker. Who would have thought Mido would have gone for 6 million, or Yakubu for near on 12 million?

Spurs didn't really need Bent and should have spent the money on an attacking midfielder and left back.

I think Bale will play left midfield. He looked Spurs' best player yesterday. They seem to have pretty good cover at the back but their 3 main centre halves are all crocked.
