A real game of nip and tuck in the first half meant that chances were few and far between, both teams sussing each other out.
Second half opened up a bit and Novartis opened the scoring with one of their time honoured set pieces, no matter how many times the coaching staff of Pattesons had told the team to watch these it proved to no avail.
The game ebbed and flowed with chances being created at either end, Novartis were unlucky to find Johno in inspired form and he made no fewer than 3 quality saves during the second half.
Pattesons were not to be denied and after clever work on the edge of the Novartis box by Barber he set up top scorer Nathan Crooks to Smash home his 14th of the season.
At this point Pattesons had the upper hand and but for a couple of fine saves from the young Novartis keeper they could have gone ahead.
Both teams played some exceptional football, hard but fair and walked away with a point each.
Special mention to Jase Leonard who reffed the first half impeccably for the home side and then the Novartis guy for doing the second.
On this showing both sides should enjoy a good season.
