Steelers played well in the first half and after having a goal disallowed for offside Liam Anderson had a great chance to break the deadlock when he found himself one on one with the keeper but could only weakly lob the ball straight into his arms. George Eyole and Anderson then combined but Tez Petterson miscued horribly and the ball ended up nearer the corner flag than the goal. M&M then had their first clear cut chance but their player struck the ball just wide with stand-in keeper Craig Deakins well beaten.
In the second half Steelers continued their good work despite losing inspirational captain Simon Treacher through a knee injury but minutes after he had left the field Eyole punished a hesitation in the M&M defence and struck the ball past their keeper despite him getting both hands to the ball. It was soon 2-0 when half-time sub Ashley Cormack crossed the ball for debutant sub Danny Baldock (who had come on for Treacher) but his shot flashed inches wide. It soon became 2-0 though when Kai Haig played in Anderson with a delightful through ball and he drew the keeper before placing the ball to his left. Steelers were now rampant and it didn't take long for goal number three to come along. Petterson was delivering some quality corners and from one Matty Stark met it with a downward header which just made it into the net. It was nearly 4-0 as the M&M players were now resigned to defeat and Anderson set up Eyole but the M&M keeper made an excellent save. Right at the end of the game Craig Deakins was called upon and made a brave save diving at the feet of an M&M forward to preserve his clean sheet.
Young ref Scott Anderson had a great game too and he was ably assisted by Assistant Referees Tom Gale and Danny Fidlin.
