Redstar Smarts News Football Club had beaten Nicks Takeaway 6-0 in their last game 2 weeks ago and,  due to match postponements, faced them again in their next fixture in the Grimsby Sunday League Division 4 at King George, Taylors Avenue. Team Redstar are on a good run at the moment having gone 6 games unbeaten whereas Nicks are going through a sticky patch by their own standards. Referee Munson got the game underway in near perfect conditions for an enjoyable Sunday morning and Redstar were 1st out of the traps. John Conroy opened his account for the day when he curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net after it broke kindly for him on the edge of the box. Nick's almost equalised straight away as a forward cannoned his effort back off the Redstar crossbar which was still shaking as goal number 2 came for the homeside with a fantastic team effort. Nicks had a corner at 1 end of the pitch but 3 touches later they were picking the ball out of their own net at the other end. Redstar captain Dave Duff cleared the ball out of his box to the rampaging Gary Cox on the left flank who let the pace on the ball take him to the halfway line. Cox then intelligently switched the ball 60 yards out to the right where Conroy beat his man to the ball and whipped in an inch perfect 1st time cross onto the head of the onrushing Ian Blackmore to bullet a header past the stranded Nicks goalkeeper. Next on the scoresheet was youngster Luke Borrill who chased a corner along the line of the box, let it bounce, then rocketed a half volley back where it came from and into the top left hand corner making a difficult chance look easy. Nicks grabbed a lifeline against the run of play when Redstar shotstopper Marco Sotgiu misjudged and spilled a bouncing ball which left him stranded on the left hand side of his area. A Nicks forward pounced in a flash and squared to the lethal boot of Ramsden to slam home into the unguarded net. This goal gave Nicks a much needed lift and they had the better of the remaining minutes in the 1st half as they found a bit of self belief. The whistle blew for the break which halted Nicks in their tracks when they sensed another goal was on the cards with Redstar vulnerable. Nicks had the wind behind them as the second half got underway as the takeway crew took the game to Redstar but Gavin Johnstone was having none of it and upped his game and began to pull the strings for the Smarts News men. Both he and Mccann began to take control and slow the game down everytime Nicks tried to breakaway and get into any kind of rhythm. It was infact Danny Mccann that grabbed Redstar's 4th goal as he rose to nod in a Nick Woods free kick. Nick's pulled another goal back a few minutes later as a ball played in from the byline was palmed out by Sotgiu to a Nick's player who rippled the Redstar net. Redstar made it 5-2 when Borrills pace took him clear of the Nick's defence ending in a rash challenge upendeing him in the area. Fullback Nick Woods stepped up to burst the net with the perfect penalty. Redstar's Darren Todd and Ross Atmore snuffed out Nicks for the rest of the contest and could only watch in delight as some fine wingplay from Cox found Conroy unmarked at the far post to grab his 16th goal of the season. Redstar then made a triple substitution. Off came Woods, Mccann and Conroy senior, replaced by Daz Brett, Snowy Edwards and Conroy junior Matty for his debut. Following a long ball, Nick's striker Ramsden then showed why he is 1 of the Division's leading marksmen by turning Duff 1 way then the other before dispatching a fine finish into the bottom corner of the onion bag. Redstar scored the final goal of an entertaining game through Borrill who rode yet another late lunge in the penalty box to keep his feet and sweep the ball across the advancing keeper before wheeling away as the ball nestled inside the far post. Redstar must win all their remaining games and hope others slip up if they are to have any chance of lifting the Championship this year but the management will be more than happy with a top 3 finish. Man of the Match for Redstar was Nick Woods.

To be fair 16 goals might be fuck all to you bj, 7 games unbeaten for us is probably a laffin stock to you guys but when you compare our teams,squads etc and how good you lot are to how middle of the road we are then it is an achievement m8. All you lot looked like tanned pros, we all look like either milk bottle skinned spotty whippersnappers or over the hill fat old bastards We were just like you years ago cept we won div 8 when it meant summits   PS He dont need a teacher when he just watches the piemaster and learns.
