Heres the proper report.

ROOK DOUBLE HELPS SECURE IMPORTANT WIN

SW Cricketers entertained Immingham Bluestone knowing that if they lost they would be out of the title race but turned in a great performance to win 3-1.

Bluestone were first to show and had a shot which flew just wide of Daz Bowles goal and then Gaz Deakins put over a great cross which saw Nick Rook fire just over. Leading scorer Liam Anderson although not scoring had another busy game up front shot just over when well placed. Bluestone then started to put The Cricks defence under a bit of pressure but the back 4 of Ash Cormack, Karl Nuttall, Simon Treacher and Sean McCall were equal to most things that Bluestone had and were resticting them to long range efforts, one of which flew just over. Cricks then made the all important breakthrough when the Bluestone keeper failed to hold a Tez Petterson corner and Rook was on hand to poke the ball home. Bluestone then had their best spell of the match and it needed a last ditch tackle from Petterson to stop them equalising.

Early in the second half Anderson looked like he was going to make it 2 but the ball stuck in the only muddy patch on the pitch just as he was about to pull the trigger. Cricks doubled their lead when a Petterson ball was half blocked by the Bluestone defence but the ball fell kindly to Rook who fired home. Nathan Thompson then appeared to have sealed the game for Cricks but after a great mazy run he fired goalwards and was away celebrating as the ball struck the inside of the post before being cleared. Bluestone then grabbed a lifeline that gave them renewed hope when Nuttall and McCall waited for each other to clear the ball but both hesitated allowing a Bluestone forward to nip inbetween them and he finished well past Bowles in the Cricks goal. This should have spurred Bluestone on and they nearly grabbed an equaliser when from a corner the ball fell kindly for a Bluestone player but although he struck the ball firmly it was just too high. Cricks finally got their 3rd when a Thompson free kick found Petterson in the area and he made no mistake to give Cricks a comfortable 2 goal cushion. There was still time for a worrying moment late on though when Rook headed clear in his own area but then collapsed. He was out for a good couple of minutes before he came round and had to be helped off the pitch to be replaced by Craig Deakins. Bluestone tried to get back into the game but The Cricks defence held firm to secure an important 3 points and hand Bluestone their first league defeat of the season.

Ref Barry Paine had an excellent game with the whistle.
