| Blasty Posts : 874 Albion Gaffer!! Is the Season here yet................. |
Harlem ground out a result despite it being by far their worst performance of the season. Game started at breackneck pace with Harlem taking the lead inside the first 5 minutes when Evison popped up at the back post to slot home his first goal for the club in 3 seasons. Adcocks then went virtually straight up the other end to equalise when a good cross was whipped in by the Adcock wide man and with the keeper rooted to his line and none of the back four wanting to take responsibility it was left to the Adcock forward to nip in and slot home the equaliser. Harlen then went back up the other end and Evison had a chance for his second but just failed to get his toe onto a cross from Thomas. After this the game descended into a dull and scrappy affair with Adcock playing the better of what football was being played and were quite clearly more up for it than any of the Harlem boys. Half time came and after the hairdryer treat from Blasty, Harlem were sent out to put right the crap from the first half. Whilst the football didnt improve greatly the effort and commitment did. The game was still a scrappy dull affair so with 25 mins to go Blasty mad a double substitution bringing Siddle and Himself onto the field of play. Harlem then had 2 good penalty shouts for handball turned down by Ref John Leeman, before getting a fortuitous penalty when the ball struck the hand of a Harlem forward AND THEN the hand of an Adcocks defender, John Leeman having no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Vince despatched the penalty with aplomb. Blasty then made his final sub with young McGregor taking the field of play and within 45 secs it was 3-1 with McGregor making the most of some great hold up play by Ramsey to run through and lob the keeper. The last 5 mins were played out with Harlem 3-1 victors. Whilst this was as bad a performance as Harlem have put in this season credit to the lads for finding a way to win the game. And credit to the Adcocks guys who will probably feel a bit hard done by to come away from the game with nothing. On the day their effort and commitment couldnt be faulted and they probably played the better of what football there was on show. Good luck for the rest of the season to them. And thanks to John Leeman for his usual entertaining performance with the whistle ![]() | |||
