Redstar Smarts News Football Club had a nightmare 2nd half against champions elect the Valiant FC at Bradley pitches after more than holding their own for the 1st period. The away side were without Players player of the year Captain Dave Duff and Nick Woods for the top of the table clash but were ahead twice. They took the lead when Gary Cox struck a venimous shot which the Val keeper could only parry out to the alert John Conroy who slammed in the rebound for his 6th goal in as many games. The equaliser came when Mark Broderick hacked down a Val forward in the 6 yard box and the resulting spot kick was expertly dispatched by Val's captain Tom Hunter. Redstar regained the lead when that man Conroy broke down the left and squared to Gary Cox who held off his man to slot the ball into the bottom corner. Back came the Val though and levelled when their striker broke through 1 on 1 and brought keeper Marco Sotgiu out then squared unselfishly to his partner to tap into the empty net. With 10 minutes to go in the 1st half the Val took the lead for the 1st time in the game with a calamity of a goal when a Val forward collided with Sotgiu in a 50-50 challenge. Sotgiu stayed down injured and as Gavin Johnstone whacked the ball clear it struck midfield man Ian Blackmore and rolled into the bottom right hand corner despite the despairing stretch of cebtreback Snowy Edwards. Just before the break and it was all square once more as Danny Mccann was put clear by wing wizard Luke Borrill. Mccann rode a lunging challenge before stroking the ball into the bottom corner for 3-3. Both teams trudged off for the interval in what was a highly entertaining affair. The 2nd half kicked off with the Val in control from the off and they scored almost immediatly with some smart 1 touch football which Redstar could do nothing about but stand and admire. The Val then went on to dominate and  scored a further 5 goals which oozed class as they stepped up the tempo without really breaking a sweat. To add to Redstar's woes they went down to 10 men with 15 minutes left when Edwards had to crawl off with a groin strain and they had used all their subs. The 10 men tried to run the clock down but were ripped apart seemingly at will by the Val who will breeze this league on their 2nd half performance. Credit to Redstar who tried to keep up with the league leaders and did well not to concede double figures. Most teams would have been down and out if Redstar had put 3 past them in the opening period but judging from the Val's scorelines this season the worst thing you can do against them is score as they seem to thrive off being behind and the confidence oozes from goalkeeper to stirker. Man of the match for Redstar was Danny Mccann who battled for most things and showed flashes of brilliance with his tight control. It was a shame he was on the loosing side and nonme of his teammates played particulary badly it was just the opposition who were relentless and Redstar will play against most of the other teams in Division 4 like this and win. For the Val Captain Tom Hunter was everywhere and did'nt let his hair get in his eyes at all as he bossed his troops from start to finish. Apart from a few of the Val players showing some arrogance at times, the game was played in the right spirit and lets hope it does not come back to haunt them in the near future as they are a quality outfit.

would just like to point out that i am not the captain of the team tht wud be my partner in crime in midfield lewis salter i just took over when he went off as he was unwel due to about 5 gallon of champers the nite before lol, the hair is never in the eyes neither m8 and wen it gets to tht point i shall pinch 1 of me mams bobbles to combat the problem.

Apologies to Mr Salter, the only time i actually saw a Val player before they whizzed off in front of me was when Tom stopped to part his hair with a vidal sasoon curling tong. It was then i saw the captains armband upon his 24 inch pythons.
