Cheers Chiffy,

should have been about 20, our forwards missed quite a few one on ones with their keeper, we hit the post 2/3 times and John Leeman (god love him) turned down 2 stonewall penalties in the second half. Think he was feeling sorry for them. Only downside was a nasty two footer in the last minute that left one of our centre forwards struggling to walk. They were a good bunch of lads but seemed to lack any kind of leadership or organisation, really cant see them being in the league for much longer unless they can sort themselves out. Their number 9 (cant remember his name) was quality though but was on a different wavelength to the rest of their lads and after 20 mins he stopped passing and tried to do it all himself.

Good confidence boost for the lads but it needs to be kept in perspective.

Spud had 30 mins but really had nothing to do as they never really seriously threatened us, apart from a 40 yarder our keeper tipped onto the bar.

Roll on Grainthorpe next week.................whats gone on there, I thought they were a side to watch this year?? Not started too well have they?

Imm Striders 5  Greenlands 5.

We was expecting a real battering from Greenlands after they demolished Grainthorpe last week 13 - 0,(We only drew 2-2 with them). I think both teams we on par with each other and the draw was a fair result. We are a new team and have alot to learn, we are clever enough to know a win will come but also realise a battering is just round the corner. 3 games 3 draws, we are quite pleased with that.

Grainthorpe 0 Harlem 1

Hard fought battle settled by a solitary first half Craig Jackson 25 yarder.

Turned into a niggly game in the second half which Blasty managed to keep a lid on with his quality reffing!!

The Harlem boys have learnt how to win messy!!!

this week for the first time this season we actually turned up, fari enuff we lost 4-1 to a team far worse than us but ahoy! we at least tried, goalie finally came back this week from injury and things are at long last looking up, ( well almost our holding midfielder broke his leeg in this weeks fixture :| ) anyways We played HCA.FC and to be fair out played them and showed our true persistence, had it not been fro us being jewed when 2-1 down when the ball was CLEARLY over the line, we'd have fought alot more but instead it was a case of same old story half the lads felt hard done too and let heit heads drop and concede 2 REALLY SLOPPY goals in the last 5 mins..but CHIN UP lads it will come

Dont give up mate .Cottees came in the league 2 seasons ago with us and started off dead optimistic, talking about winning the league and stuff. They did ok for a couple of games then we beat them 10v0 in a night match and they just went to pieces after that, had their kit nicked and players getting suspended left and right. Then their secretary began to get a bit laxadaisical with the paperwork and midway through the season they folded. So what Im saying really is keep trying your best, dont get dispondent and youl probably have a change of fortune somewhere as the season progresses.Best of luck mate

When my old team started out as Bates Athletic we finished bottom of the old Division 10, but various name changes later we were Mitchells Athletic and made it to Division 2 and almost made it into Division 1.
